Our Little House in London

Layout Downstairs, there is one bedroom at the front, behind which is the lounge room, complete with couches and Sky satellite TV. That has a door opening onto the backyard, which contains a BBQ and plenty of concrete, and curves around the new kitchen at the rear of the house. Upstairs, we have a big bedroom with a bay window at the front of the house. Another two bedrooms lie one on each side of our room. At the back of the house, there is the bathroom and toilet.

Our Room The first thing that struck us when we saw the room was its size. Not truly massive, it is however substantially bigger than every other room we looked at. Freshly painted and with huge built-in wardrobes, it feels quite homely and has lots of places to put our junk. There was a bed in it already, which we purchased the linen and pillows for. We have a decent view out of the huge bay window at the front of the house, which lets lots of light in to brighten the place up. Below the window is an equally massive radiator, which lets out plenty of heat. Very much needed over here during winter.

Things We Like About It

• Two minutes walk to Brent Cross tube station, then twenty minutes to Euston / Kings Cross.
• Two minutes drive to the start of the M1 motorway, the main one out of London. Traffic noise is yet to bother us.
• Wireless broadband Internet access, via freedom2surf.
• Car parking space in the driveway. (Very rare over here)
• Thirty seconds walk from the local shops - a Kosher shop, newsagents, off-license (Aussies call them Bottle-os), dry cleaners, fruit and veg, etc.
• Not far at all from a 24-hour Tesco (a huge supermarket).
• A little further from the massive Brent Cross Shopping Centre.

Our Room-mates

• Chantelle (from Northern Sydney) and Ryan (from South Africa) are the ones who offically lease the place. Chantelle works as a PA, and Ryan for Marks and Spencer in IT. They are engaged to be married in December 2003.
• Vicky is the latest entry to the house besides ourselves, and another Aussie, from Victoria. She works as a PA.
• Taija is the token Kiwi in the house, and she works as a statistician. Not that she likes anyone to know that.
